On June 15, 1950 he was united in marriage to Venita Casey at St. The couple farmed in the rural Cascade area until retiring in 1985. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #538 for 70 years.He is an Army Veteran, having served in World War II in the South Pacific as an Army Engineer. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years and also helped to manage a hotel in Cedar Rapids.
Gilman was very proud of his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish in rural Peosta, and a member of its Rosary Society.
She and Emmett founded the New Melleray Athletic Association providing baseball and softball team activities for the kids and people of the Holy Family Parish.
She loved dancing and music, always ready to hit dance floor.
Jackie had a strong love of the beach and ocean where she grew up and visited there as often as she could.
Gilman was born September 15, 1938 in Greenfield, MA, son of Richard R. Gilman was a self-employed real-estate developer and interior designer, and founded Budar Advertising with his sister Valjeanne.
